About Vercel:

Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company, freeing people and agents to ship what's next. For more than a decade we've helped builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience.

Now we're scaling our products for both agents and people to ship and run software, built in the open and trusted by OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide.

About the role:

We're looking for a Commercial attorney to join our Legal team. Vercel's deal volume keeps climbing as the company grows, and we need someone who can close deals and build the systems that let the team close more of them, faster.

You'll partner with Sales, Partnerships, Procurement, and other cross-functional teams to negotiate contracts with customers, vendors, and partners. Beyond managing a busy deal pipeline, you'll use AI tools to improve processes, playbooks, and programs that boost efficiency and deal velocity as we scale. Depending on interest, you may also work on product development or other projects outside Commercial Legal.

You'll report to the Senior Director of Legal, Commercial, and be based in San Francisco with a 3-day/week in-office requirement.

What you will do:

  • Serve as the primary Legal contact for go-to-market and procurement deals, giving clear, practical advice to the teams involved

  • Independently manage and negotiate commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, partnership, and reseller deals

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to build and improve contracting processes, playbooks, and tools, using AI to speed up deals and keep them consistent as we scale

  • Draft and maintain agreement templates, playbooks, and fallback positions

  • Advise on Vercel's regional expansion strategy

  • Contribute to other Legal work as needed, including supporting commercial deals in EMEA and APAC, or product, privacy, or security initiatives

About you:

  • Qualified and in good standing in California or another US jurisdiction

  • 6+ years of legal experience, including 2+ years in-house commercial experience at a technology company (ideally AI, SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS)

  • Familiar with US privacy regulations and comfortable discussing privacy issues with customers

  • Strong understanding of AI and cloud services and their global regulatory landscape, with a willingness to dig into Vercel's product offerings as they evolve

  • Experience using AI to build tools, workflows, and processes

  • Excellent judgment, strong risk assessment, and the ability to make pragmatic calls with imperfect information

  • Clear, concise communicator who can explain complex issues in plain language to a range of stakeholders

  • Proven ability to independently negotiate technology agreements with enterprise customers and vendors

  • Collaborative, low-ego team member willing to take on work of varying scope and visibility

  • Track record of building or meaningfully improving programs and processes at fast-paced, high-growth companies

Bonus if you have:

  • Used Vercel's products and services

  • Experience supporting channel and reseller partnerships

  • Fluency in other languages

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.

  • Inclusive Healthcare Package.

  • Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.

  • Flexible Time Off.

  • We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $207,000 - $253,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location.
